Q In which format will Scopus Custom Data be delivered?
A. XML format including all required XML schemas.

Q Are there other formats other than XML available e.g., Excel, csv etc.?
A. No, this is not possible. XML format only.

Q How will Scopus Custom Data be delivered?
A. Data will be either transferred to a customer’s FTP site or written to a physical drive (DVD or external USB hard drive) and delivered via courier to the customer’s location.

Q. Is the data different from Scopus?
A. No, the underlying data is the same as Scopus. However we include data elements that are used in the background in Scopus but are not disclosed in Scopus.com, this makes Scopus Custom Data data very rich.

A. Yes, customers will be provided an extensive user guide to help them understand the data structure that will be delivered.

A. Scopus Custom Data will be delivered in the form of datasets which will contain data pertaining to a specific timeframe as agreed with the customer. Customers can then purchase updates on a yearly basis or more frequently

Q Can Scopus Custom Data customers replicate Scopus?
A. No, customers will not be able to replicate Scopus. Through a contract customers are bound to using Scopus Custom Data for trend analysis. Custom Data is strictly for the use of bibliometric analysis on various levels i.e. group of researchers, department level, institutional level and higher.

Q. Can customers sell Scopus data through to third parties?
A. No, customers will not be allowed to sell Scopus core records to third parties or reveal core records publicly. Customers will be allowed to publish aggregated results from their analysis, only after Scopus Custom Data management has agreed to this.

Q. What are the licensing/contract options?
A. Yes, customers will be able to choose whether they would like to make a one-off purchase of the datasets they require or sign a licensing agreement where they will receive yearly updates.

Q. Can ranking agencies publish rankings based on Scopus data?
A. Yes, provided that they have a special partnership agreement with Scopus which is additional to the Scopus Custom Data agreement.
